Harishchandragad Fireflies Night Trek

About the Event
Adventure Club Pune invites you to experience the magical Fireflies Festival Trek at Harishchandragad in the Kalsubai forest region—a perfect pre-monsoon escape where you’ll witness the glowing dance of thousands of fireflies in their natural habitat. This 2-day adventure begins with pickups from Pune (Viman Nagar, JM Road, Aundh, and Nashik Phata) between 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Mumbai participants can join the group at Kasara Railway Station by 11:30 PM. After traveling to Paachnai Village, the group will arrive around 2:30 AM and immediately embark on a short trail or drive into the forest to observe the stunning bioluminescent display of fireflies. A local expert will give a briefing on fireflies and their fascinating mating ritual, followed by a short rest before the Harishchandragad Sunrise Trek begins around 4:30 AM.
By 6:00 AM, the group will reach the Harishchandragad temple area where Poha or Maggie with tea will be served. Next, trekkers will begin the Taramati Peak trek at 6:30 AM, a two-hour journey offering breathtaking sunrise views from one of the highest points in the region. This will be followed by a guided trek to the iconic Konkankada cliff, known for its dramatic drop and panoramic vistas. Around noon, the group will begin descending back to Paachnai village, reaching by 1:30 PM. A wholesome, unlimited traditional Maharashtrian vegetarian lunch will be served at a local home by 2:00 PM. After relaxing for a bit, the group will begin the return journey to Kasara by 3:30 PM and is expected to reach by 6:00 PM. Pune participants will continue onward and reach home by 9:00 PM.
Participants are advised to carry essentials such as a good rucksack, spare clothes, rain gear, 1–2 liters of water, a torchlight, comfortable trekking shoes (no sandals), power bank, ID proof, personal hygiene kit, and light snacks like dry fruits and chocolates. Strict rules are enforced for everyone’s safety: no alcohol or smoking, no littering, no loud music, and full cooperation with the trek leader is mandatory. Participants are also advised to avoid carrying valuables and to take extra caution during the monsoon season or on tricky rock patches. The organizers are not liable for any injuries or medical issues during the trek, and trekkers are responsible for their well-being in case of emergencies.
This unforgettable journey is ideal for adventure lovers, nature photographers, and anyone seeking a magical escape into nature. The trek offers a perfect blend of wilderness exploration, scenic landscapes, local culture, and the breathtaking glow of fireflies under the summer night sky.
