8th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) 2026

About the Event
8th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) 2026
The deadline for achieving Sustainable Development Goals is barely four and a half years away. Much of the advancements particularly in terms of social sustainability were undone during the pandemic that paralyzed the world for almost two years. If we are to ensure shared prosperity for all, leaving no one behind and taking people and planet together, we will have to understand that scale, complexity, and interconnection of global challenges demand a fundamental rethinking of how societies learn, make decisions, and act. We do not have the luxury of time anymore because the fact remains that the road to 2030 is all about plucking the high hanging fruits. Therefore, it is nothing short of a race against time.
Fast-paced progress across multi-dimensional SDGs through integrated and cross-cutting responses is the real need of the hour.
Escalating risks related to climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and social inequities demand deep and coordinated transformations in how societies think, learn, govern, and act. Sustainability education has emerged as a critical driver of such systemic change, equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, values, and authority required to navigate complexity and contribute meaningfully to sustainable solutions.
One common thread that runs across all SDGs is Sustainability Education.
Therefore “Sustainability Education for Transformative Action” is the theme of the 8th International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE) which is intentionally positioned within the converging global and national momentum for accelerated sustainability action. Rather than reiterating existing commitments, ICSE 2026 focuses on how sustainability education can translate Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aspirations into measurable and transformative action at national, institutional, and community levels.
