One Day Trek to Awachitgad

About the Event
The southern part of Konkan is adorned by natural beauty. The city of Roha is situated on the banks of Kundalika River. Avchitgad is situated in the mountain ranges around Roha. This region is beautiful, and the fort is one of the rich forts of Maharashtra. Dense woods along the mountain have made it bit difficult to ascend the top.
Avachitgad, is believed to have been constructed by Shilahars and later used by Nizam of Ahmednagar. Our great king, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati conquered the fort and it is believed that he reconstructed. The name “Avachit” is fetched from Marathi and literally means hurry. The construction of the fort was completed in hurry hence the name Avachit. In February 1818 AD, Colonel Prother won the fort in Third Anglo Maratha war and was with the British Raj until independence.
The caves are located near a small village called Kuda, hence the name Kuda Caves. Kuda Caves were carved during 5th and 6th century and belong to Buddhism. There are numerous inscriptions, which describe the donors.
