Step into the enchanting world of nature's own light show with the Fireflies Jungle Safari at Rajmachi, a special night trail that lets you experience the magical bioluminescence of hundreds of fireflies in their natural habitat. Set in the lush forests near Lonavala, this quick yet thrilling 10-hour adventure is a perfect escape from the city, offering a blend of off-road jungle rides, firefly sightings, and a tranquil trek to Rajmachi Fort at sunrise.
The journey begins late evening from Pune, with multiple convenient pickup points starting at 7:00 PM. Participants opting for travel-inclusive packages are taken to Lonavala in comfortable Sumo/Bolero vehicles. From Lonavala Station (11:00 PM), the real adventure begins with an off-road ride through the jungle, leading to the base village by around 12:30 AM. After a short rest, the guided night trail takes you deep into the forest by 1:00 AM to witness the stunning fireflies display—a surreal dance of glowing insects illuminating the trees under the night sky. After observing this rare natural event, guests return to the village for rest in a cozy shared room hosted by local villagers.
At dawn, an optional trek to Rajmachi Fort begins, rewarding early risers with breathtaking sunrise views over the misty Sahyadris. A hot breakfast awaits back at the base village, before beginning the return journey by noon. You'll be back in Pune or Mumbai by 2:00 PM, refreshed and inspired by nature's nighttime wonders.
Please carry essentials like a valid ID, cotton clothing, a flashlight or headlamp, mosquito repellent, and personal toiletries. Respectful behavior and environmental responsibility are expected, especially during firefly observation—no loud noises, flash photography, or littering allowed. Firefly sightings are seasonal and depend on nature; refunds are not provided in case of no sightings.
