This Maha Shivaratri, Shankaraa Foundation brings to you “SpasiboShankaraa”- an extraordinary evening of music, dance, and spiritual reverence.Witness a remarkable cultural collaboration between maestros from both Indiaand Russia as they come together to express reverence to Lord Shiva throughtheir music and dance. Celebrate over 35 years of cultural exchange in thismesmerizing performance.
Spasibo Shankaraa- ATribute (*Spasibo inRussian means Thank you..)
In 1990, Rashme Hegde andthe White Lotus Group embarked on a cultural journey that would span decades.Twelve young Russian dancers came to India to immerse themselves in classicaldance, forging a deep and enduring bond with Indian music and traditions. Overthe past 35 years, this exchange has flourished, bridging artistic worlds.
Now,seven of these artists return to Shankaraa to honor Lord Shiva in a mesmerizingperformance—celebrating a legacy of shared artistry and devotion that continuesto inspire. Join us for an unforgettable evening that transcends borders andgenerations!
Spasibo Shankaraa will feature the following programmes on 26thFebruary: (7.30 pm to 8.15 pm)
FirstSegment: (First segment has 3 performances)
Mallari- A dance toinvoke lord Shiva with ritualistic traditions by the students of Sai ArtsInternational to welcome the divine. Performance by Sai Arts InternationalSchool and directed by Dr. Suparna Venkatesh.
Danceof the Elements- This performance features Indian andRussian dancers Vidhushi Rajashree Holla (Kuchipudi dancer), Founder, LaasyaLahari Kuchipudi Dance school, Vidushi Sandhya Udupa (Bharatnatyam artist), Trustee,Udupa Foundation, Tatiana Nazorova (Kathak dancer and choreographer), Dr. ElinaKomarova (Exponent dancer and choreographer) and Vidhushi Kalpana Devaprasad (AerialSilk artist). The dancers will depict the five fundamental elements, panchamahabhutas, using five different dance forms. The Dance of the elements isdirected by Smt. Rashme Hegde, the leading exponent of Indian classicaldance traditions, cultural ambassador and founder trustee of ShankaraaFoundation.
Rhythmsof Shiva- This is a performance by Russian kathakaars Vidushi Tatiana Nazarova and Vidushi EleonoraPetrova.
SecondSegment: FreeSpirit, a reflection and musical dialogue between Russia and Indian maestros.(8.30 pm onwards)
Themusic ensemble features Maestro Dr. Ekaterina Melnikova on the Keyboard,Maestro Dmitry Rasul Kareyev on the Clarinet and Vidushi Dr. Svetlana Janardanon the Sitar, Master Siddharth Belmannu- Hindustani vocalist, Ashtana Vidwan BSArun Kumar on indian percussion and Master Shadaj Godkhindi on the Bansuri.
