Tamhini Ghat/Andharban Fireflies Trail

About the Event
Experience the Magical Fireflies Festival at Andharban
Join us on an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Andharban forest for the annual Fireflies Festival — a rare and magical natural phenomenon that occurs just before the monsoons. This overnight trip takes you through a serene mountainscape and dense forest where thousands of fireflies light up the night in a synchronized display of bioluminescence as part of their mating ritual. It’s a surreal sight that transforms the forest into a living constellation, offering a breathtaking experience for nature lovers, families, photographers, and adventurers alike.
The journey begins from Pune with multiple convenient pickup locations starting at 10:00 PM, ranging from Magarpatta and Viman Nagar to Wakad and Hinjewadi. Participants who opt for the Pune-to-Pune package will enjoy private transportation, while self-drive participants can directly meet us at the base village. We arrive at Andharban around 2:00 AM, followed by a short introduction and briefing by our expert trek leaders. At around 2:30 AM, we begin our guided jungle walk, venturing into the quiet forest in search of glowing fireflies dancing among the trees. The best firefly sightings typically occur between 3:00 AM and 4:30 AM, after which we reach the campsite for some rest on foam mats in a cozy common area.
As the forest awakens, you’ll have the option to explore the peaceful surroundings or take a short hike to the Kundalika Valley Viewpoint. At 8:30 AM, enjoy a delicious and authentic local breakfast before we start our return journey to Pune, reaching back by approximately 11:00 AM. Throughout the experience, we prioritize safety, provide a basic first-aid kit, and ensure that the trip remains respectful to the environment and local communities.
Participants are expected to carry essentials such as a valid ID, light and comfortable clothes, extra garments, a towel, toiletries, comfortable footwear, a torch or headlamp, mosquito repellent, and a small backpack. A light shawl or bedsheet for resting is also recommended.
Please note that firefly sightings are subject to natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Music is turned off by 10:00 PM, and silence is observed during firefly viewing to preserve the experience. The itinerary may vary slightly depending on weather and traffic, and we request all participants to respect the rules, local culture, and fellow travelers.
Come be part of a once-in-a-year phenomenon in the tranquil embrace of the forest — a glowing trail of wonder awaits you!
